So far I have learned and researched a lot about different plants. I am working on a post about the soap plant, and researching about the redwood tree and its uses. As I have researched these plants, I see the pictures and descriptions of the plants and I realize that I actually have some of them in my own backyard!! It is really cool for me because I now have a real connection to my project.
Unfortunately, I have had a few setbacks. For one, I realize that this is taking a lot longer than I thought it would. I originally plnned to have posts about AT LEAST a dozen plants by the end of the semester, but I am quickly realizing it may be a stretch to finish even half of those. Simply the research and planning and all the writing is hard to fit in to a Monday period. Recently I've tried to research and post during the class, and update my blog on tuesdays at home, but I still feel like I do not have enough time. I think I will simply have to lower my goal. That being said, I still need to put in more time than i have been recently. My new goal is 8 plants by the end of the semester. This goal will push me to finnish, but I will be able to complete it with focus and quality, instead of rushing to complete my blog. Honestly, I am really enjoying this project so I may even continue it over the summer to reach my original goal.
The reason I like this so much, is becasue I feel that it is really useful. I learn a lot about what plants are helpful to the enviornment, and hopefully this information will reach other people. Little by little, maybe we can change people's backyards to a healthier, happier one, and conserve water while we do it.
